"My Way" is a popular song made famous by Frank Sinatra. Whenever I'm at a gig I often get requested "My Way" from Frank Sinatra. Interestingly, "My Way" comes from a French song titled "Comme d'habitude" written by a French songwriter named Jacques Revaux. The song was performed in 1967 by Claude François. English lyrics were then created by Paul Anka (turning the song to "My Way"). Interestingly, the English lyrics are unrelated to the French song. This guitar arrangement is made by an Itallian guitarist and arranger named Giuseppe Torrisi. I think he makes fantastic arrangements and this one in particular is one of my favorites of his arrangements. I hope you enjoy Giuseppe's arrangement and my performance of this great tune. I did add an outro to this arrangement that comes from Frank Sinatra's famous version.

"What a Wonderful World" was written by Bob Thiele (as "George Douglas") and George David Weiss. Louis Armstrong was the first to record and release it and of course he has the most famous version of the tune. The tune is one of my all time favorites (perhaps my favorite) and it has a lot of sentimental value to me. It's such a beautiful, happy and joyful tune with a hint of sadness as well. It's always played at midnight on New Year's Eve in New York's Time Square. The tune was also used brilliantly near the end of Disney's "Finding Dory". I believe this arrangement was my first guitar arrangement. For my arrangement my goal was to stay as true as possible to Louis Armstrong's version in the solo guitar format. This beautiful tune is by far the most requested tune at my restaurant gig. The tune's name is actually "Speak Softly, Love" but it's probably better known as "Love Theme from The Godfather". The music is by Nino Rota and the guitar arrangement is by Olivier Hecho. I hope you enjoy my performance of this beautiful piece and arrangement.

"Autumn Leaves" is probably one of the most famous or most well known jazz standards of all time. It's known well to the general public (even to those that know very little about jazz) and it's a popular song for a beginning jazz musician because it's song structure is a good introduction of common jazz harmony and form structure. "Autumn Leaves" is also my first solo guitar Joe Pass transcription I've ever done. Joe's arrangement here comes from his album "Unforgettable". "'Autumn Leaves' is a popular song and jazz standard composed by Joseph Kosma with original lyrics by Jacques Prévert in French, and later by Johnny Mercer in English" (according to Wikipedia). The French version of the song is called "Les Feuilles mortes" ("The Dead Leaves") and was featured in a 1946 film titled "Les Portes de la nuit" ("Gates of the Night"). "In 2012, jazz historian Philippe Baudoin called the song 'the most important non-American standard' and noted that 'it has been recorded about 1400 times by mainstream and modern jazz musicians alone and is the eighth most-recorded tune by jazzmen" (Wikipedia). This is my performance of my Joe Pass transcription of "When You Wish Upon a Star" from the 1940 Disney animated classic movie "Pinocchio". This tune used to be played at the beginning of every Disney animated movie. I hope you enjoy my performance of Joe's version of this classic Disney tune.

Stardust is a beautiful jazz standard composed in 1927 by Hoagy Carmichael. Nat King Cole has the most famous version of this jazz standard. This particular arrangement comes from Joe Pass from his album "Unforgettable". It's a really beautiful solo guitar ballad take on the tune. I hope you enjoy my performance of Joe's great arrangement.

This is a very beautiful tune from the classic movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's". It was composed by Henry Mancini with lyrics written by Johnny Mercer. It was sung famously by Audrey Hepburn in the movie. A couple interesting facts, Henry Mancini composed the song with Audrey Hepburn's voice and range in mind. Also, the part of the movie where Hepburn sings this song was going to get cut. Audrey protested vehemently saying "Over my dead body!" and was able to stop that scene from being cut from the movie. This particular arrangement is from a guitarist named Ed Gerhard. It's from a guitar book of Henry Mancini guitar arrangements from various of guitarists titled "Henry Mancini Pink Guitar". This is my performance of a very beautiful (and a bit haunting) guitar arrangement by jazz guitarist Jonathan Kreisberg of the great tune "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen. Kreisberg's version is primarily based on Jeff Buckley's famous version of "Hallelujah". The most notable part of Kreisberg's arrangement apart from beautifully capturing the intro and melody is his vamp. In the vamp section you hear some cool jazz harmonies and chord substitutions. "'Besame Mucho' ('Kiss me a lot') is a [beautiful and romantic] song written in 1940 by Mexican songwriter Consuelo Velázquez." "It is one of the most famous boleros, and was recognized in 1999 as the most sung and recorded Mexican song in the world" (Wikipedia). "According to Velázquez herself, she wrote this song even though she had never been kissed yet at the time, and kissing, as she heard, was considered a sin. She was inspired by the piano piece 'Quejas, o la Maja y el Ruiseñor', from the 1911 suite Goyescas by Spanish composer Enrique Granados, which he later also included as 'Aria of the Nightingale' in his 1916 opera of the same name" (Wikipedia). The version that I first heard that made me fall in love with this song is from the famous Italian opera singer, Andrea Bocelli. This particular guitar arrangement is from Jorge Nolla. I mostly stayed true to his arrangement but I did add some things like an intro and what I played for the first two "A" sections during the 2nd chorus. The intro is a rubato chord/melody version of the guitar intro for Andrea Bocelli's version of Besame Mucho. I hope you enjoy my performance of this beautiful and romantic song and arrangement.
